Who is making the best Strat type aftermarket necks?
I have a great body(swampash/bocote), but I am too lazy to build a neck. What are the opinions of following necks, Fit/Finish/Ready to play.
Mighty Might
Allparts
Warmouth
USACG
Anyone else making great necks that I should check out. Anyone using exotic woods? I don't want to spend a fortune, but want a nice neck.

I have a Warmoth neck on my parts-o-caster - big and fat and I really really love it! Dunlop 6105 frets, that didn't need any work after putting it on the body and this guitar plays like butter.

I've had good luck with Warmoth. I've also heard good things about Allparts and USACG.

I prefer the Warmoth necks, they are consistently good. They always have great fretwork.

We've not had the best of luck with Warmouth. We've had a couple that were ok, but when we're doing 'parts guitars' for customers, we use USA Custom or All Parts. The real problems come with the birdseye maple, and the flamed maple, etc. I would recommend staying away from the curly maple necks, especially from Warmouth. If you're going to go with a maple neck, stay with the quarter sawn, straight up maple.

Just out of curiosity: why is that? Do they have a tendency to warp, maybe?

USACG by a wide margin for me. I've used several AllParts and played several more Warmoths. USACG has a lot more non-upcharge flexibility in ordering and the two I've had from them have simply felt more 'finished'. Obviously not in the nitro/poly sense, but in shape and surface execution. The others aren't bad and can be a solid value if you find something that suits.

Hope this helps.

USACG. And this is coming from someone who builds guitars.

mischultz...

we've had good luck with usa custom too. i forgot to mention them before, but they really do great work.

the birdseye and flamed stuff is just less stable. it looks nice, but it's not as solid.
