Hi! :D
We've got top notch advice here from pedal builder(s), amp builder(s), the best string maker on the planet, but I think what this forum lacks is a guitar builder or experienced repair man who could give advice to those of us who are in need of some support in repairs / modding / setup etc. for their guitars: what can be done by yourself, where is the point you better turn it over to an experienced person and the like. Would be great if we could get somebody.

I've got an e-mail into someone who's very qualified. Hopefully he'll be interested. Stay tuned...........

Well, I got nuthin'. My man had to respectfully decline due to his workload and a home expansion project, but was flattered that I thought about him for the task. Too bad; Phil really knows what he's doing and is one of the most masterful luthiers and repairmen that I've ever seen. He's also one of the very few east of the Mississippi who owns a PLEK machine. Oh well, would have been nice.....:(

PeeWee, have you had any of your axes Plekked? Last I checked, nearest one to me is in Nashville (at Glaser's) - which I may be driving through next month

I offered the Guitar section to my good friend Vince Cunetto and he is still thinking about it. Maybe some of you can give him a call or shoot him an email and tell him to do it! :D

If Vinny doesn't have the time, we should ask one of the boutique builders. The job really doesn't require that much time, but I do agree it is the one thing we are lacking.

I think Teddy is speaking with Schroeder to see if he will host a repair forum!

If anyone knows a pickup winder we would love to have someone host the accessory section.

Hey Steve,

I've had my R6 Plekked. It's a pretty amazing machine in that it will give a computerize read out of just how accurate yor fretboard is. My R6 was pretty bad off and after the Plek and refret, it's like a completely different guitar; my readout before the refret looked like a USGS topographical map of the Rockies. I also had one of my R9s scanned with the Plek and decided that since I really wasn't having any trouble with it's playability, I'd leave it alone for now. I'm sure the guitar would benefit from a refret - thanks to Gibson's crappy work performed at the CS - so maybe it'll happen in the near future.

Remember that the Plek will only diagnose your problem and the work must still be performed by a competent repairman. Glaser is one of the best and is also the one guy in the US with the most time on a Plek. You'd be in great hands!

Oh, we do have one in our membership: Highorder - if I'm not totally wrong, that's Jeff from Highorder pickups!

Hey there fellas. I'm talking to Tim about starting up a repair thread. So now's your chance. What would you guys like to know about? We've got a few ideas for basic stuff, but I'm assuming that like most groups, there's probably a wide variety of people here, with a variety of knowledge and experience. So let us know what you'd like us to write about first!
